HISTORY OF DATO' ONN COLLEGE
College Dato' Onn were establish on 1970
which is the same with the establishment of University Kebangsaan Malaysia
(UKM) at Pantai Baru. This college is the firs college that were built
in UKM and it also known as 'the first college'.
In the early of November 1977, UKM moved to Bangi and
all the residential institute at colleges were called 'Komplek siswa' or 'Komsis'.
the first Pantai Baru college also moved to Bangi and known as 'Komplek siswa
A' on 25 November 1977.
On 1977/1978 session, there are 1374 male and female
students were register at 'Kamsis A' where is the biggest college in 'Kampus'.
the facilities that provided in this college include 2 cafeterias, 4 prayer
rooms, 4 television, 'Kompleksiswa A's koperasi' under supervision of JAKSA,
sport instruments provided for the residential usage, and also provided the
newspaper at restroom. Besides, Kamsis also published college magazine
called 'Majalah Semester' on each session. Kamsis A news also were published
for the college residential.
On 1981, 'Komplek siswa A' also known as 'Kampung siswa
A'. 'Kamsis A' is the biggest Kamsis at UKM Kampus. It can be accommodated
with 1480 residents in a time. It situated in a strategic location near the
administration building, big hall, mosques and... it also nearby the field.
In 1986, Kampung Siswa A was named as Kamsis Dato' Onn.
Now, Kamsis Dato' Onn can be divided into two: Kamsis Dato' Onn and Kamsis
Hussein Onn. it was launched by YAB Tun Hussein Onn, our third prime
Minister on 30 January of 1986, .... 20 Jamadil Awwal 1406 Hijrah.
