| Background of the faculty |

The Faculty of Education started off as the Department of Education at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities in 1972. The department was then upgraded to become a faculty of its own on October 16, 1986. At present, the faculty is located in the second zone of the main campus in Bangi with 2 departments – the Department of Foundation of Education and the Department of Methodology and Educational Practices – managing courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The total number of the academics at the faculty up to August 2011 is 94, consisting of 2 adjunct professors, 1 fellow, 11 professors, 21 associate professors, 26 senior lecturers, 32 lecturers and temporary lecturers, 3 tutors and 2 language teachers. The administration of the faculty is supported by 44 non-academic staff with 1 head of assistant registrars, 1 senior assistant registrar, 1 assistant registrar, 1 social research officer, 1 senior administrative assistant (C/O), 1 senior administrative assistant (S), 5 administrative assistants (C/O), 3 administrative assistants (S), 2 senior administrative assistants, 8 junior administrative assistants, 4 computer technicians, 3 technicians, 4 lab assistants, 1 senior general office assistant and 4 general office assistants. |
