DEAN’S MESSAGE

FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES DEAN’S MESSAGE

As Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you. The Faculty is the hub of the University’s activities in the Health Sciences arena. We offer courses ranging from laboratory-based to clinical-based programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The Faculty of Health Sciences was founded in 1992 to provide education, research and consultancy in the health science disciplines and to produce graduates in the healthcare field. In addition, our faculty members and students are also involved in various community service programmes. The faculty’s mission is to provide the very latest and up-to-date education of the highest quality in order to produce ethical and competent healthcare professionals who will make an impact on the health and well-being of the community.

Our faculty members who are active in research incorporate their research findings in their lectures and this provides the students with an ever increasing body of new knowledge. Additionally, our academic and research staff and students come from a wide and diverse range of backgrounds and countries and this enriches the cross-cultural experience in the faculty.

As a faculty in a research university, we are also playing an active role in the establishment of research centres of excellence and our aim is to increase the number of graduate students. I believe that despite the global economic crisis, our academic and support staff, students, alumni and stake holders will do their part to ensure that we achieve our goal to be a center for education and research in the health sciences in this region.

I look forward to working together with you, whether you join us as a student or academic staff.

With kindest regards,

Professor Dr. Suzana Shahar
Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences
