Entry Requirements
Master of Health Science with specialization in Clinical Linguistics
- Bachelor Degree in related field with a good Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from any Institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate; or
- Other qualification; equivalent to a Bachelor Degree and other qualification or experience recognized by the Senate.
- International applicant should get a minimum score of 550 for TOEFL or Band 5.5 for IELTS.
Doctor of Philosophy with specialization in Clinical Linguistics
- Master Degree in related field from any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate; or
- Other qualification; equivalent to the Master Degree and other qualification or experience recognized by the Senate.
- International applicant should get a minimum score of 550 for TOEFL or Band 5.5 for IELTS.
Research areas available to potential candidates include the following areas (list not exhaustive):
- Development of screening, assessment, and intervention tools
- Linguistic analysis of speech, language and communication disorders using technologies (eg: phonetics instrumentation, fMRI, eye tracker).
- Teaching/learning aspects and educational management of students with special needs.
- Acquisition and processing of (normal) language.
- Development of norms for speech and language of normal children for local languages (eg: Malay, Mandarin and Tamil, local dialects and other local languages).
- Development of language descriptions for the local population in Malaysia.
- Aspects of sociolinguistics for example bilingualism, multilingualism, language choice, code mixing and code switching, etc
