BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Dr. Mohd Ekhwan Toriman, is a Professor on Environmental Hydrology. He joint the National University of Malaysia since 1994 and currently is a Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation Affairs), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He received his first degree (Hons) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, M.Sc from Manchester University, UK and Ph.D from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. Currently, he has published more than 272 journal papers including 168 are indexed by ISI and SCOPUS, 78 books and chapter in book and 135 proceedings in national and international conferences. His publications are on river modelling and data integration, flooding and floodplain analyses and water quality modelling. In 2012, he has appointed as a Visiting Scientist and Visiting Professor from Kyoto University, Japan. He also a task force member of Academic Science Malaysia (Research & Development on Water) and currently a Secretary, Natural Resources and Environmental Research Cluster, Majlis Profesor Malaysia. Since 2010, he has involved as a principle researcher and consultation works more than 53 research grants and 71 consultation works in Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia and Indonesia including major projects by PETRONAS, ECER, TNB, LLM, ISKANDAR Malaysia, Drainage & Irrigation Department and Government agencies. He has taught courses related to hydrology, geomorphology, environmental modelling and water resources at National University of Malaysia To date, he has supervised and examined more than 37 PhD theses, 42 MS theses and more than 127 Bachelor degree.
