Entry Requirements
:.

Master of Business Administration and Specialised Masters-

Bachelor Degree with a good Cumulative Grade Point Average from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate with a minimum of two (2) years working experience at post-bachelor degree level; or
Bachelor Degree with a very good Cumulative Grade Point Average from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate and without working experience at post-bachelor degree level; or
Other qualification equivalent to a Bachelor Degree and other qualification or experience recognized by the Senate.

Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme -

Master Degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or any institution of higher learningrecognized by the Senate with excellent achievement at Master / Bachelor Degree levelsin fields related to the Economics / Business / Commerce discipline.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programme -
Master Degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate with excellent achievement at the Master / Bachelor Degree levels in fields relevant to the intended specialized area of the thesis within the Business discipline, and submission of a research proposal.
:. Candidates from the government or private sectors must include a written permission from their respective Heads of Department/ Employers upon submitting an application.
 
English Language Requirement For Admission

Applicants whose native language is not English and locals applying for admission who intend to write their thesis / dissertation in English language, should demonstrate good command of English (either TOEFL score of minimum 550 (paper based) / 213 (computer based)79 (internet based), or IELTS band 6.5)

Online Application Guide

:. Click SUBMIT after you are satisfied with the information given. Any amendments after clicking SUBMIT will not be allowed.
:. Your application is recorded in the system once the message " Thank you. Your application has been recorded" appears on the screen. Please click on the PRINT BUTTON to download a copy of your application.
 
Upon successful submission of your on-line application, please send the following documents via post:
:. A copy of printed online application forms completed for all sections.
:. 1 recent passport-size photograph.
:. A certified copy each of all degree certificates or professional qualification certificates. Please provide English translation if the certificates are not in Malay or English.
:. A certified copy each of all degree transcripts.
:. A certified copy each of English language test result (for foreign applicants whose native language is not English).
:. Two (2) academic references in form UKM-GSB 03.
:. A letter of guarantee from your sponsor/financial guarantor.
:. A research proposal (1,500-2000 words) for applicants for admission into PhD (by thesis) programme.
:. Two (2) certified copies of identity card/passport.
:. Non-refundable processing fee made payable to Bendahari UKM, account no 1218-0011326-05-3 (CIMB Bank Berhad)
 
a. Local applicants: money order/ online transfer/ cash deposit worth of RM30.00 (A copy of transaction details has to be submitted to UKM-GSB for reference purpose).
b. Foreign applicants: bank draft worth of USD30.00
 

Application of 'Visa with Reference' (VDR)

The procedures below will give international students like YOU a more detailed explanation about visa, student pass and other procedures in order to enter and stay in Malaysia for study purposes:

  • Issuance of Student Pass to Students

i. To apply for a visa to enter Malaysia
As of 1st January 2014, all international students must obtain a valid 'visa with reference' prior to entering Malaysia for education purposes. All prospective international students must apply for the  'visa with reference' prior to entering Malaysia.

ii. To apply for a student pass for the pursuit of studies in Malaysia
Applications will be submitted by the educational institutions to the Director of Pass & Permit Division, Malaysia Immigration Department.  Students DO NOT need to apply directly to the Immigration Department under this procedure. The prospective students will be informed of their application status by the Immigration Department in Malaysia through their educational institutions within 14 days of the application, irrespective of whether it has been successful or not.

To apply for a VDR document please submit the following document to International Student Services Divison (ISSD) UKM (vdrukm@gmail.com)

  • Copy/scan passport (All passport pages);
  • Copy/scan UKM Offer Letter;
  • Copy/scan passport size photograph (blue background)

Upon approval, ISSD UKM will email the VDR document to students. Students need to go to the nearest Malaysia Embassy/Consulate office to stamp the visa in their passport.
The VDR application will take about 30 working days to be approved by Immigration Department in Malaysia. For students from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and China, it will take up to 3 months for Immigration Department in Malaysia to approve their VDR document.

iii. Arriving in Malaysia: at the Malaysia immigration check point
Upon arrival at the airport in Malaysia, students have to show their Visa With Reference (VDR) at the immigration check point. A Special Pass will be issued to refer the student to the respective State Immigration Department for issuance of the Student Pass. A visa will also be issued to the student at the entry point in the form of an endorsement on the students valid national Passport.

iv.Issuance of student pass to students
Students will be issued a Special Pass valid for 14 days at the Immigration check point. Within two weeks of their arrival, UKM is required to submit the students? passports to the State Immigration Department to enable Student Pass stickers to be affixed. The fee for a Student Pass is RM60.00 a year (or part of a year) while a visa fee depending on the countries the students come from.
