Furnace digunakan untuk mencairkan logam untuk pembuatan bahagian mesin (casting), memanaskan bahan untuk membuang unsur-unsur yang tidak diperlukan di dalam sesuatu bahan (pengkalsinan), serta mengubah struktur atau sifat-sifat bahan tersebut (pensinteran). Suhu di setiap furnace boleh dikawal mengikut kemahuan sendiri.
