He received his Bachelor Degree and MSc. from\u00a0Tokyo Metropolitan University\u00a0in 1988 and 1990. Then, he became a research associate of Hokkaido University. He received his PhD from\u00a0Tokyo University in 1995. The title of his PhD thesis was Displacements of Substrate Atoms Induced by Alkali-Metal Deposition. He moved to Kyushu University as an associate professor in 1997. Finally, he became a professor at Department of Molecular and Material Sciences in 2011. His major research interest is structure determination of solid surfaces. He is an active researcher who has participated in various international conferences and published outstanding articles in a number of journals.
