Licensing Terms

The Journal of Contemporary Islamic Law is committed to open access and the free exchange of information. The journal applies the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC) license to its published articles to promote these values.

The CC BY-NC license allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format for noncommercial purposes only, as long as attribution is given to the creator. This license enables the sharing and dissemination of knowledge while protecting the intellectual property rights of the creators.

The CC BY-NC license consists of two elements. The first element, BY, requires that credit be given to the work’s creator. Anyone who reuses or adapts the material must acknowledge the original author(s) and provide a link to the original work.

The second element, NC, permits only noncommercial uses of the work. This means the material may not be used for commercial purposes, such as selling or licensing the material for a profit.

The CC BY-NC license applies to all articles published in the Journal of Contemporary Islamic Law. Authors who publish in the journal retain the copyright to their work and are free to share and distribute their articles under the terms of the CC BY-NC license. This means that the authors can use their work in their teaching, research, and other professional activities while allowing others to build upon their work.
