ABSTRACT

This paper highlights the potential of 1, 5-diphenylcarbazide for quantitative determination of Cr(VI) in aqueous environment.  The study showed that the reagent reacted with Cr(VI) at an optimum pH 1.0 and produced a linear response at Cr(VI) concentration range of 0.0 – 10.0 ppm. This method showed a good reproducibility in the determination of Cr(VI) concentration with a RSD value of 1.92 %.  The relative error for this method is in the range of 6.0 – 10.0 %.  The calculated limit of detection of this method was 0.03 ppm.
