Workshop on SMARTER* Phonics (Level 2)

Dear Prof/Datuk/Dato’/Dr/Sir/Madam,

The Institute of Ethnic Studies (KITA), UKM, in collaboration with the Dyslexia Association of Sarawak (DASwk), Kuching, Sarawak, is organising a two-day workshop on a hands-on reading programme called SMARTER*phonicsTM Level 2. The details are as follows:

  • Date: 27-28 April 2019 (Saturday-Sunday)
  • Time: 8.30am – 5.00pm (Saturday); 8.30am – 1.00pm (Sunday)
  • Venue: Bilik Seminar 2, Aras 1, Bangunan Pentadbiran, Kolej Keris Mas, UKM, Bangi

The workshop will equip participants with the skills to help all children – with or without risk for dyslexia – to learn to read and spell in English using a structured, systematic, phonics-based and multi-sensorial instructional program. This programme, called SMARTER*phonicsTM programme is an effective instructional programme for all children to read and write in English (in line with the Revised National Preschool Standard Curriculum 2017).

Target participants
Parents, teachers in kindergartens, preschools and primary schools, lecturers and trainees in teacher-training institutes, education officers and other interested individuals.

Registration

  • Registration will only be processed upon confirmation of payment.
  • Registration fee: RM200 per parent of child with a disability, RM300 for others.
