Meeting with Institutional Reform Committee, 28 May 2018
KITA Principal Fellow Prof. Datuk Dr. Denison Jayasooria led a team of CSO leaders, this afternoon (May 28,Β 2018) to meet the Committee for Institutional Reform.Β Among the submissions made were a few directly pertaining to national unity and ethnic relations. The group called for the immediate release of the NUCC report which was submitted to the Prime Minister in 2015 and a call to study the various major proposals pertaining to the Repeal of the Sedition Act, the enactment of a Harmony Act, the establishment of a national unity commission and mediation centres. In addition matters pertaining to adopting a social inclusion framework based on sustainable development goals and ratification of the International Convention for the elimination of racial discrimination were discussed.
