SMARTER*phonics Level 3 Workshop, 23-24 September 2017

On 23rd and 24th September 2017, Workshop SMARTER* Phonics Level 3 was held at Bilik Latihan 2, Level 6, Administration Building, Kolej Keris Mas, UKM, organized by KITA and Dyslexia Association of Sarawak.

SMARTER is an acronym for ‘A Structured and Multisensory AppRoach To Enhance Reading’. It uses the principles of Orton-Gillingham method of teaching phonics in a systematic and step-wise manner. SMARTER*phonics builds the brain for literacy by employing current reading science research of the importance of listening, phonological awareness, vocabulary. Its cumulative and repetitive structure and use of multi-sensorial activities have been shown in various projects to enhance both reading and writing. SMARTER*phonics is currently used in all preschools in Sarawak.
