Malaysian Society of Applied Biology (MSAB) is a society that assembles members who focus on application or using a biological approach in research, industry, commercialisation, education and other related fields. To date, MSAB has more than 230 members who come from various background including students, researchers and industries.

MSAB is the publisher of the Malaysian Applied Biology Journal since 1977. Prior to that, the journal was known as MALAYSIAN AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH from 1973 to 1976. It is an open-access journal and published twice yearly. The journal accepts scientific articles in all fields of biology and applied biology or related scientific field. Acceptance for publication is based on contribution to scientific knowledge, original data, ideas or interpretations and on their conciseness, scientific accuracy and clarity, as judged by two referees appointed by the Editorial Board. The Journal also publishes occasional review papers by invitation.

The journal is currently listed and indexed in Scopus (since issue 41(1) 2012), Thomson Reuters Master Journal List, Myjurnal, Biosis, Zoological Records, UDLedge Life Science Index, CNKI, J-Gate and CABI. All articles since December 2005 are freely available in the Archive.

The society actively organised or co-organised various event to promote the application of biological knowledge such as workshops, seminars and symposium. To date, the society organised the 15th Symposium of Malaysian Society of Applied Biology in 2018. Although the latest event which is International Applied Biology Conference was planned in 2020, it was postponed to March 2021 due to COVID19.
