Society Encouraged to Pursue Higher Education

BANGI, 16 July 2017 – Prof Emeritus Dato’ Dr Abdul Latiff Mohamad encouraged the society to pursue their education to a higher level, either in master or PhD, because Malaysia has many globally acknowledged institutions of higher learning.

He said as a research university, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) have the expertise and experienced supervisors to supervise postgraduate students.

“UKM encourages Malaysians to gain more knowledge by continuously improving themselves through education.

“In addition, education at UKM is also on par with universities in Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom,” he said while delivering his keynote address at the 17th Post Graduate Colloquium 2017 with theme Recent Trends and Challenges in Post Graduates Studies, recently.

At the Colloquium, Malina Kumaran from UKM’s School of Bioscience and biotechnology was announced as the best presenter with her research entitled ‘The Effect of MRN Complex and ATM Kainase Inhibitors on Zebrafish Embryos’.

“As a research student, this colloquium gives me the opportunity to learn and explore more of the myriads of studies that are being conducted in UKM.

“I am passionate and serious about being part of the scientific community and am planning to do my PHD after completing my master,” she said.

A total of 208 participants attended the colloquium, which was organised by UKM’s Faculty of Science and Technology.
