Sports Help Strengthen Unity of Multicultural Society

BANGI, 19 April 2017 – Sports activities are able to strengthen unity among the multicultural society in Malaysia, on top of increasing health level, said Malaysia’s Ministry of ­­­­Tourism and Culture Chief Secretary, Datuk Ab Ghaffar A Tambi.

He said sports activities will be able to provide an opportunity for those involved to create a society that is more polite, responsible and has high integrity.

He said this while reading the minister, Dato’ Seri Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz’s speech at the PERMATApintar National Gifted Centre Sports Carnival, recently.

He said, students will know the meaning of unity, respect between different races, and develop a sense of love for the country and patriotism, by being involved in sports.

He added that Malaysia’s Ministry of ­­­­Tourism and Culture has always supported the national education philosophy’s desire to produce a balanced and holistic individuals.

“This philosophy is in line with the national sports philosophy which aims to promote sports in the community.

“In this regard, the participation of students in extra-curricular activities are of paramount importance as a platform to produce students who are active, dynamic and united,” he explained.

He said consistent sports training which encompass mind, muscles nerves and emotions, is also capable in forming students who are fit and comply with the rules.

Besides that, sports can also shape students who are responsible, disciplined and have and have leadership qualities.

The PERMATApintar National Gifted Centre Sport Carnival which was held for two days were joined by students from PERMATA Insan College, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.
