Malaysian Yunus social business network established

BANGI, 27 February 2017 – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) formed a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four institutions as an initiative in expanding research possibilities in various aspects of the local community.

The participating institutions are Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Institute Technology Petronas (ITP) Sdn Bhd, Yayasan Amanah Belia (YAB)  dan Institut Darul Ridzuan (IDR).

UKM was represented by its Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Industry and Community Partnerships, Prof Datuk Dr Imran Ho Abdullah while USM was represented by its vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Asma Abdullah; ITP, its-Vice Chancellor, Datuk Ir Dr Rahim Hashim, YAB Chief Executive Officer, Nurfaini Daing and IDR was represented by Chief executive Officer, Dr Mazalan Khamis.

Prof Datuk Dr Imran, in his speech, said that this cooperation encompasses education, school dropouts and poverty which are mostly associated with the local community.

He believes that the collaboration between UKM and the four institutions will contribute greatly to research enquiries made by UKM’s Yunus Social Business Center.
