UKM Received Endowment Worth RM5.4 million

PUTRAJAYA, 11 August 2017- Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, through the Institute of Visual Informatics (UKM-IVI) received RM5.4 million worth of endowment from Cable One Sdn Bhd to promote data science professional training programme.

The endowment, will witness UKM-IVI collaborating with myVIC Sdn Bhd for the implementation and operation of the program which will be held at UKM and myVIC.

UKM Vice-Chancellor Prof Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali said the MoA is part of tripartite collaboration between university, government and industry to produce research outcomes and output with good quality.

“Data Science and Big Data is an area which can contribute significantly to our country’s development,” he said at the MoA signing ceremony.

Meanwhile, the Head of myVIC Sdn Bhd, Azura Ali said they aim to enhance the skills of professionals and unemployed citizens through the data science professional training program.

“The training programme is designed for anyone who aims to improve and enhance their knowledge on data analytic skills,” she said.

She added that it is also opened to undergraduate students, who wants to be professionally certified in Data Science or Big Data.

She said the Data Science professional training programme will begin in October.

The ceremony was also attended by Cable One Network Sdn Bhd Group Chairman, Hahmad Abas, Cable One Sdn Bhd CEO Mohd Fuad Jaafar, Majlis Professor Negara CEO, Prof Dato’ Dr Raduan Che Rose, UKM Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Industry and Community Partnerships, Prof Dato’ Dr Imran Ho Abdullah, and the UKM Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Prof Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman and UKM-IVI Director, Prof Dato’ Dr Halimah Badioze Zaman.
