BANGI, 3 May 2017 – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), through the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FPI), strengthened its collaboration with Wasiyyah Shoppe Berhad, through the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), recently.

The contribution by Wasiyyah Shoppe Berhad will fund research titled Hibah Bersyarat and Hibah Harta Bercagar.

Wasiyyah Shoppe Berhad Executive Director, Ariffin Sabirin said the MoU will also see the organisation giving out scholarships to excellent students at FPI.

“Scholarships for these students is a form of sedekah,” he said adding that the organisation is also opened in establishing any cooperation which will benefit both parties.

Wasiyyah Shoppe Berhad has collaborated with UKM since 2005 through the Department of Syariah, FPI.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Industry and Community Partnership, Prof Dato’ Dr Imran Ho Abdullah said last year, a total of 326 interactions, meetings or sessions have been recorded in collaboration with working industries and also agencies in UKM.

“This is in line with what was intended by the Ministry of Higher Education as an effort to redesign education,” he said adding that he highly encouraged experts in Islamic studies to conduct cross disciplinary studies.
