Majlis Menandatangani Perjanjian antara UKM dan SIT

Vice Chancellor, Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Sharifah Hapsah Syed Hasan Shahabudin and Stevens Institute of Technology (SIT) President, Dr Harold J. Raveche today signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) paving the way for greater cooperation and collaborative innovation between the two institutions.

The Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak witnessed the signing ceremony which was held at US Chamber of Commerce, In Washington, USA.

The collaboration between UKM and Stevens, established through an MoU signed on 18th July 2008, has resulted in joint educational and research projects.

Under the MoA, Stevens and UKM will embark on the following collaborative programs:

  1. Dual Degree of Master in Engineering (Systems Engineering) at Stevens and Mastern of Science (Industrial and Technology Management) at the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, UKM for both Malaysian and international students.
  2. Joint advanced courses in Business Ventures, Technology Licensing and Finance by Stevens and Competitive Business strategy and Business Law by UKM-GSB, as Technology Start-ups and Entrepreneurship concentration for the MBA programme at UKM-Graduate School of Business;
  3. in R&D commercialization via University Start-ups with the Centre for Collaborative Innovation of UKM. In this program Stevens will share its expertise and hands-on experiential training in Technogenesis, an approach which has made Stevens very successful in creating an ”educational environment, where students, faculty and industry jointly nurture new technologies from concept to market place realization”.

Stevens was ranked 3rd by Forbes on September 12, 2008 for return on investment in R&D. On August 30, 2007, Business Week said that ”Schools like MIT and Stanford don’t graduate more founders (of companies) than Stevens Institute of Technology…..”

In 2008, Stevens won the Jostens Award for combined academic and athletic among a competition of the 320 universities and colleges in the Eastern Athletic Conference , including all the Ivies, MIT and Carnegie Mellon.

Webcampus.Stevens has won three awards for its excellence as the best online graduate program-two from the Alfred P. Sloan foundation and one from the US Distance Learning Association.

Stevens has produced two Nobel Laureates and its alumni in Korea, Taiwan and other Asian countries are most successful leading major corporations and creating many patents for the growth of business and industry.

Minister of Information, Communication and Culture, Dato’ Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim and Malaysian Ambassador to the US, Dato’s Seri Jamaluddin Jarjis were also in attendence. Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Rahmah Mohamed, was witness on behalf of UKM. UKM News Portal.
