Sarawak-born Students at UKM Feted at Kenyalang Appreciation Night 2012

BANGI, 9 April 2012 – A Kenyalang 2012 appreciation night was held here recently attended by about 90 Sarawak students organised by PEMASRA, the Sarawak Students’ Association of The National University of Malaysia (UKM).

It was officiated by the Sarawak state Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Haji Fadilah bin Haji Yusof who advised the students to equip themselves to face global challenges.

The annual dinner with the theme ‘Classic P Ramlee’ was coorganised by Sarawak students with the German Malaysian Institute (GMI).

The dinner was held to strengthen relationships among Sarawak students who are made up of different ethnic groups, cultures and religions and also in appreciation of PEMASRA members who will be completing their studies this year.

The Principal Political Secretary to the Sarawak Chief Minister, Abdullah Saidol; PEMASRA Advisor, Zaini Sarkawi; President of Sarawakians in the Peninsula (PASS), Rafique Hafeedzy and the GMI representative, Safrina Zainal attended the dinner.

Certificates of Appreciation were presented to all the outgoing Exco members of PEMASRA for the 2011-2012 session while the Academic Achievement Award was given to Wan Zairul Azai bin Wan Sudin, a communications student at the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities while President of PEMASRA, Safwan bin Razali received the Kenyalang 2012 Award.
