UKM to Enhance Collaborations with PSU Thailand

SONGKLA, 19 August 2011 – UKM is to expand its collaboration with Prince of Songkhla Universiti (PSU) of Thailand to include joint researches and publications, twinning programmes, student and staff exchanges and industrial training.


This was discussed when a UKM delegation called on the PSU Vice President, Prof Dr Chatchai Ratanachai here on Tuesday. Vice President (Academic and International Affairs) Associate Prof Dr Yupadee Chaisuksant of the PSU Pattani Campus and two lecturers from the campus also attended the discussions.


The UKM delegation include Director of Alumni Relations, Prof Dato’ Dr Laily bin Din, Director of Centre of Educational Extension, Prof Dr Norhamidi Muhammad, Deputy Director Centre for Graduate Management, Prof Dr Ismail Shahid, Deputy Director of Centre for Corporate Communications, Encik Abd Razak Hussin and Asst Registrar Office of International Relations, Encik Muhammad Fahmi Mike Abdullah.


The UKM delegation was in Songkla to attend the PSU 15th Higher Education Fair on 15 and 16 Aug in conjunction with its open week.

UKM’s Faculty of Islamic Studies have already been collaborating with the PSU Pattani Campus. The meeting agreed to expand the collaboration based on a letter of cooperative intent signed on May 30th 2007.


As comprehensive universities having similar academic features the meeting agreed to have follow up discussions that could lead to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding or a Memorandum of Agreement.
UKM was one of the five institutions of higher learning from Malaysia to be invited to attend the fair which was opened by former Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai.
