Rahim Kajai College won UKM’s 2011 Sports Championship

BANGI, 2 Nov. 2011 – Rakim Kajai College emerged the overall champion in the National University of Malaysia (UKM) sports championship (SUKEM 2011) which began on Oct 15 ending today, when it won six gold medals, seven silvers and 10 bronze medals.

It won golds in football, squash individual, beach volleyball men, beach volleyball women, basketball and mixed badminton.

Aminuddin Baki College was the first runner-up winning six golds (mixed chess, softball men, lawn bowls men, lawn bowls women, wood ball mixed and golf women), five silvers and three bronzes.

The second runner-up was Tun Syed Nasir College with five golds (women hand ball, hockey men, basketball women, athletics and taekwando).

Tun Syed Nasir College was also declared winner of the SUKEM 2011 parade competition with their motto “KTSN a Sure Winner”. The group of medical students with their eagle mascot won the challenge trophy and RM1000 cash.

Ibrahim Yaakob College was placed second with a cash prize of RM600 and Keris Mas College third winning the cash prize of RM400.

Deputy Vice Chancellor  (Students and Alumni Affairs) Prof Ir Dr Othman A Karim gave away the prizes. Present were Director of Sports Centre UKM, Dr Tajul Ariffin and UKM Chief Librarian, Muhamad Abu Bakar Maidin and college principals.
