BANGI, 30 Nov. 2011 – The 19th Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) based in Sungai Petani won the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah trophy for soccer when it beat the 9th RAMD Regiment from
1 – 0 in the finals at UKM Stadium here this morning.
The winning goal was scored by Mohd Faizul Abdul Muhid in the 60th minute during the second half.
The team won despite having to play with only 10 men when one of its players was sent off in the second half for a foul.
Mohd Fitri Shamsudin from the 19 Regiment was selected as the best player in the finals.
Sultan Abdul Halim who graced the game presented the trophy to the winners. Chairman of the Malay Regiment, Lt Gen Dato’ Zulkifli Hashim and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Students and Alumni Affairs) Prof Ir Dr Othman A Karim witnessed the game. ![]()
