RESEARCH - FACULTY OF EDUCATION UKM

Researchers at the Faculty of Education are investigating vital areas of education. These problems span from preschool through graduate school and beyond. Our researchers are involved locally, in schools, and at the state and federal level, working on various areas of education research. In addition, academic staff also publishes books and write in journal, presenting and participating in national and international conferences. Students at the Masters and PhD level are also involved in research with supervision from the lecturer. There are two Centres of Excellence to support faculty research,  (i) Centre for Educational Evaluation and, (ii) Centre for Learner Diversity.

Center for Educational Evaluation

This center was established as a resource to assist the evaluation of learning based on research for the improvement of the assessment and decision making by researchers, policy makers and practitioners in schools, higher education institutions and industry. The main focus of this center is in the aspect of measurement and evaluation in education such as education related to values, knowledge, development of cognitive skills, psychological and sociological aspects of the various levels of education from school to higher education institutions. The focus of this center also includes the evaluation of program, and educational policies. This center also acts as a referral center for evaluation and provides consultation and interpretation of results from data analysis.

Center for Learner Diversity

The Center of Excellence for Learner Diversity (CELD) strives to enhance awareness of learner diversity towards overall improvement of quality of education.  CELD Advocates research, networking, consultancies, intellectual dialogues and effective practices with regard to learner diversity. Diversity continues to be a constant feature in most parts of the world today and is well observed in multicultural Malaysia.  This challenge has brought new horizons for the world communities to understand and respond to racial, cultural, class and ability differences.  Educators, professionals, and practitioners are striving to equip ourselves with the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to respond to varied needs of stakeholders.  The education setting especially has much to contribute in educating others to celebrate and honor diversity.
