The UKM News Portal provides the latest news on UKM’s research and academic activities. The Portal was officially launched on 18 May 2010 during the university’s 40th anniversary celebrations. The News Portal is the first of its kind to be developed by a public institution of higher learning in the country.
Objectives
Its main objective is to report on news about the research, innovation and research-based commercialisation activities as well as official and academic activities at UKM. In addition, it also has reports on happenings outside the campus that are related to UKM.
Function
The function of the News Portal is to provide news of events or those arising from interviews with UKM researchers. Our writers and journalists gather the news materials, write and translate the news items based on these materials, and edit, while the portal webmaster will upload them on the news portal. Besides uploading the news and images, the webmaster also designs the banner for each news items. The portal’s twitter (@ukmnewsportal) is used to alert its worldwide followers soon after a story or a video is uploaded.
