Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Mukhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, 61, has been crowned as the 11th Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan in a glorious traditional  and royal Negeri Sembilan coronation ceremony at Balairong Seri, Istana Besar Seri Menanti, on 26 October 2009.

The coronation ceremony is the final royal ritual for the coronation of DYMM Tuanku Mukhriz as the 11th Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan on 29 December 2008 due to the passing away of the 10th Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, DYMM Tuanku Ja’afar ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

DYMM Tuanku Mukhriz was born on 14 January 1948 and was raised in Negeri Sembilan. Tuanku Mukhriz received his early education in Sekolah Tuanku Muhammad Kuala Pilah and Sekolah Tuanku Besar Tampin, before continued his secondary education in Sekolah Menengah King George V, in Seremban. DYMM Tuanku Mukhriz furthered his tertiary education in the field of law in the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, United Kingdom and was conferred his LLB in 1970.

The regal coronation service ceremony was graced by the attendance of royal guests including DYMM Tuanku Ampuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Aishah Rohani ibni Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud; Tunku Besar Seri Menanti, Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Mukhriz; Tunku Laxamana, Tunku Naquiyuddin Tuanku Ja’afar; Tunku Muda Serting, Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja’afar and Tunku Panglima Besar, Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar.

Also in attendance during the royal ceremony were the representatives from the Raja-Raja Melayu including the Sultan of Brunei and the Yang Dipertua Negeri. Other important guests who attended the service were, among others, the Prime Minister, YAB. Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak; the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, YBhg. Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and wife, Cabinet Ministers, State Government Exco members and heads of departments.

The royal coronation service commenced at 11.00 am with the arrival of DYMM Tuanku Mukhriz and DYMM Tuanku Aishah Rohani into the Balairong Seri, after the entrance by the officials of Orang Empat Istana carrying the Peti Benian, escorted by Putera Yang Empat.
The coronation ritual took place for an hour, starting with Datuk Bentara Dalam calling upon for the Mubarak to recite the coronation vow to DYMM Tuanku Mukhriz who was already seated on the throne. As soon as Mubarak ended the formal procedure, Datuk Bentara Kanan pronounced‘Daulat Tuanku’ for three times, followed by all attendees.

Istiadat pertabalan ini adalah lanjutan daripada adat bersiram yang telah diadakan sehari sebelumnya. Seluruh warga UKM merafak sembah menjunjung kasih atas pertabalan DYMM Tuanku Mukhriz, Canselor UKM, sebagai  Yang Di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus yang ke-11.

This coronation ritual was an extension to the customary adat bersiram which took place one day prior. All UKM residents hold in the highest regard upon the coronation of DYMM Tuanku Mukhriz, Chancellor of UKM, as the 11th Yang Di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus.
