UKM-UR seminar was held biannually and alternately between two universities, Faculty of Science & Technology (FST), UKM and Fakultas Matematika & Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universiti Riau, Indonesia since 2000.

This edition will be the 8th UKM-UR seminar. FST, UKM and Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) have also organised joint seminars in Science and Technology since 2012 and 2014 at Yogjakarta campus.

Meanwhile, FST, UKM and Faculty of Science, Prince of Songkla University (PSU) organized the 1 joint seminar on the role of Science and Technology for ASEAN Community (STAC): Better Together in 2016.

UKM-UR-UII-PSU 2017 is the first joint seminar that aims to bring together the scientist from UKM, Universiti Riau (UR), Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), Indonesia and Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand.

This special seminar is organized by FST, UKM which is also part of UKM Integrated International Conference 2017. The theme for this seminar is The Establishment of Regional Platform in STEM. This seminar will present key findings from STEM research by these four universities.
