COMPUTER LABS

Analytics can be simply defined as the discovery of meaningful patterns in data and it entails applying data patterns towards effective decision making.  Analytics relies on the simultaneous application of statisticscomputer programming, and operations research to quantify performance. Thus, to improve hands-on skills on computer-programming, you will be learning and using how to use RapidMiner, Tableau, and  Microsoft Excel, for building a decision support system or for modeling.

UKM registered students are eligible to download and use Office 365 Education for free, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and now Microsoft Teams, plus additional classroom tools. All you need is a valid UKM email address <matricnumber@siswa.edu.ukm.my> .  If you are not familiar with MS Excel, there are plenty of free guidelines on Youtube and Web that you can easily learn from.  All you need to learn is just a basic introduction of how to use MS Excel. I will teach the rest, God Willing.

ASSIGNMENT AND PROJECT(S)

You will be expected to complete a number of in-class and out-of-class assignments and Project(s). If you have problems that prevent you from following the class schedule, please let me know in advance and we will discuss how we might accommodate your situation. If the assignment/project is submitted before the due date, then the student can receive 100% of the points. Assignment/project submitted within 24 hours of the end of a dateline can only receive a maximum of 90% of the total points for the lab and later than 24 hours can only receive a maximum of 80% of the total point.

CLASS ATTENDANCE

You are expected to participate in all class sessions. Active, consistent participation in class is an essential part of the learning experience. We will be discussing cases and readings both face-to-face and/or video conferences. You need to read the materials and prepare to answer the quiz for each topic. The quiz is online and you are given 3 attempts.

QUIZ

You will take an online quiz over the Chapter readings. You can find your quiz at the end of each topic on the class page on UKMFolio. AFTER you have read the chapter, you can take the Quiz over that chapter.  The unit quizzes will be a mix of 10 or more questions, possibilities include short answer, True-False questions, and multiple-choice questions.  Make sure you complete all quizzes before the beginning of Examination Week because the quizzes are only accessible before the Examination Week.

Only one exam that students need to prepare for which is the final exam. The actual format of the final exam will be discussed in class prior to each exam. You will receive a study guide for the final exams.
