Me.. your supervisor?

If you are looking for a supervisor to supervise your research work, and you have obtained a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in IT, computer science, software engineering, or mathematics with analytical and problem-solving skills and, preferably, programming skills, I might be your guy.

And also, candidates must be fluent in one of these languages, Bahasa Melayu/Indonesia/Brunei or English.

Why me?

Interesting question, here is a checklist. I should be your supervisor if:

  • you are are going to work on the following area but not limited to information systems, machine learning, optimization, text analytics, sentiments analytics, data mining, business intelligence, any kind of analytics including predictive, prescriptive, and visual.
  • you are looking for a friend, a collaborator that can work together to achieve your personal goal and ambition.
  • you are not looking to be funded/paid as GRA, because it depends on the availability of a research grant. If I have the grant to fund you, I will.
  • you are not demanding to be graduated in less than 5 semesters (For Ph.D.), it against the rules.
  • you are not demanding your supervisor to check your everyday source codes.
  • you are not demanding for free laptops/desktops/supercomputer, as it depends on the availability.
  • you are looking for an experienced lecturer, mmmm… please look into my publications and the most important source of information, contact my ex-students. There is a list of my graduate students on this site. Get in touch with them and decide whether you want to work with me or not.

Interested?

Write to me, including :

  • A statement of purpose/personal statement– What are your areas of interest? Your statement of purpose should answer this simple question. It is very important to make it specific.
  • A brief/outline of your research interest– I don’t want you to spend months preparing a proposal for our first contact, just tell me what is in your creative and innovative mind lately. If you may draft research questions, research objectives, and research plans that give me some clue on where your direction is. Show what you know about your plan and how it will contribute to the field. It is ok if you can’t, we can work it out later.
