Professor Dr Nilesh Kumar Mitra has been teaching anatomy to medical and health science students since last 27 years. He has completed his medical degree and postgraduation from India and also earned postgraduation in education from Malaysia. He is presently a professor in Human Biology Division (Department of Anatomy) in Faculty of Medicine, International Medical University. He is also Associate Dean, Technology Enhanced Learning and Director, Learning Resources Centre in International Medical University. Professor Mitra has worked as curriculum coordinator of pre-clinical phase of IMU MBBS program for many years and played significant role in development of curriculum map and digitalization of the curriculum of Medical Program in IMU. He has been associated with coordination of integrated system-based courses for many years and worked as member of curriculum review committee of IMU. His biomedical research expertise involves animal model of multiple sclerosis. He has worked extensively on the evaluation of the effects of Vitamin E derivatives and mesenchymal stem cells in animal model of multiple sclerosis. Apart from his interest and several publications in experimental neurosciences, Professor Mitra has keen interest in technology-enhanced learning and online assessment in the field of anatomy. His publications include online assessment, item analysis, multimedia tools in PBL and e-learning tools in the teaching of anatomy.
