Ia menawarkan banyak kelebihan sebagai model haiwan vertebrata seperti homologi fisiologi dan genetik yang tinggi berbanding mamalia, persenyawaan luaran, pembentukan organ yang pesat, embrio dan larva yang lutsinar, dan manipulasi genetik yang mudah. Ciri-ciri ini menyebabkan peningkatan penggunaan zebrafish dalam penyelidikan bioperubatan.<\/p><\/div><p>Makmal zebrafish di Jabatan Anatomi mempunyai kemudahan fasiliti zebrafish yang mampu menampung sehingga 360 zebrafish dewasa. Pada masa ini, makmal ini menempatkan zebrafish jenis liar dari RIKEN, Jepun dan sumber dari akuarium tempatan.
