It offers many advantages as a vertebrate animal model, such as high physiological and genetic homology with mammals, external fertilization, rapid organ development, transparent embryos and larvae, and easy genetic manipulation. These characteristics have led to an increase in the use of zebrafish in biomedical research.<\/p><p>The zebrafish laboratory in the Department of Anatomy has facilities that can accommodate up to 360 adult zebrafish. Currently, the laboratory houses wild-type zebrafish sourced from RIKEN, Japan, and local aquarium sources.
