MIRI, 14 August 2025 – A delegation from the Sarawak Students Association of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (PEMASRA) and the UKM Students’ Union (KMUKM) 2024/2025 session paid a courtesy visit to Miri City Council as an initiative to strengthen a strategic bond between UKM students and the local community.
The courtesy visit also served as an inspiration for the younger generation to contribute meaningfully to society through initiatives such as the PEMASRA 2025 Student Service Camp.
The delegation was formally welcomed by the Miri Deputy Mayor, Tn. Haji Arifin Mohamad expressed his appreciation for the visit while highlighting the importance of unity and cultural diversity as a strength of the nation.
“I am also honoured to welcome the students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, especially those from the PEMASRA.
“Your presence here at Miri City Hall brings a beautiful spirit — one flag, one heart, one Malaysia.
“Sarawak is truly unique — a land rich in ethnic and cultural diversity. This diversity is not just part of our identity; it is the source of our strength and resilience,” he said.
He further emphasized that today’s university students represent the future leaders of the nation, who must be critical thinkers, courageous in challenging the norm, and committed to building the nation.
“Great leaders are not merely those who give instructions, but those who can unite differences, stand firm on principles, and shine as a beacon of hope in challenging times,” he stated.
Additionally, Miri City Council expresses its full support for the students’ initiatives, recognising the programme as not only a platform for community service but also a training ground for leadership and discipline among the younger generation.
