\u2013 Seramik termaju adalah bahan yang digunakan dalam aplikasi berprestasi tinggi dan persekitaran melampau seperti sebagai penebat haba bagi reaktor nuklear mahupun sebagai komponen kecil seperti implan dalam tubuh manusia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kajian yang dilakukan oleh Prof. Dr. Andanastuti Muchtar yang merupakan Profesor dan penyelidik di Kejuruteraan Bahan Termaju dan Pembuatan Pintar (MERCU), Fakulti Kejuruteraan dan Alam Bina, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) mendapati sifat rapuh seramik kini boleh dikawal dan membolehkan bahan ini turut digunakan dalam cabang aplikasi termaju merangkumi bidang perubatan, pergigian, pemotongan, elektrik, elektronik dan telekomunikasi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malah, katanya, seramik termaju kini digunakan sebagai komponen penting bagi kapal angkasa kerana ia digunakan sebagai lapisan penghalang haba terutamanya semasa proses kemasukan semula ke atmosfera bumi yang boleh mencecah suhu 1650 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beliau berkata, seramik termaju ringkasnya adalah bahan seramik yang diperbuat melalui proses sintesis dan pemprosesan tertentu yang bertujuan mengawal ketulenan dan mikrostruktur bahan tersebut agar sifat khusus yang diperlukan untuk aplikasi termaju yang disasarkan berjaya diperoleh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dalam Syarahan Perdana Profesor ke-208 yang bertajuk \u201cSeramik Termaju: Sempadan Baharu Teknologi Bahan\u201d, beliau telah menggariskan peranan seramik termaju dalam pelbagai kegunaan kejuruteraan masa kini dalam lima bahagian yang teratur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPertama adalah pengenalan terhadap bahan seramik tradisional dan seramik termaju; seterusnya peranan seramik termaju dalam penghasilan perkakas pemotong; penerangan tentang peranan seramik termaju dalam pengembangan penghasilan tulang sintetik; diikuti dengan pembahasan berkaitan penggunaan seramik termaju dalam penghasilan korona gigi dan akhirnya peranan seramik termaju sebagai bahan penukar tenaga,\u201d kata beliau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Menurutnya, kajian berkaitan seramik termaju perlu berterusan atas dua faktor utama iaitu yang pertama adalah untuk menemui kaedah penghasilan serbuk seramik termaju bersaiz halus yang sekata menerusi kaedah pemprosesan basah seperti sol-gel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKaedah ini diguna pakai oleh kumpulan penyelidik UKM dalam penghasilan serbuk seramik termaju daripada bahan <em>Hidroksiapatit<\/em> (HA) yang digunakan dalam kajian penghasilan implan tulang kanselat dan bahan <em>Samarium-Doped Ceria <\/em>(SDC) dalam kajian penghasilan peranti penukar tenaga iaitu <em>Solid Oxide Fuel Cell<\/em> (SOFC),\u201d katanya.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beliau berkata faktor yang kedua pula adalah mengenai teknik terbaik bagi mengawal mikrostruktur seramik agar seramik termaju bersaiz nano tadi tidak membentuk gumpalan (aglomerat) semasa dalam proses penghasilan jasad anum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFaktor ini menjadi tunjang utama dalam kajian yang dilakukan oleh kumpulan penyelidik seramik termaju UKM bagi aplikasi pergigian.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDengan menyasarkan kepada aplikasi seperti perkakas pemotong, tulang gantian, pergigian dan peranti penukar tenaga sel bahan api oksida pepejal (solid oxide fuel cell, SOFC), penyelidikan berkaitan seramik termaju di FKAB serta Institut Sel Fuel, UKM memfokuskan kepada penambahbaikan beberapa ciri unik seramik termaju seperti sifat mekanikal, rintangan haus, bioserasi, estetik dan kekonduksian ionik,\u201d ujarnya.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beliau turut menegaskan, kesemua skop kajian yang dipilih oleh kumpulan penyelidik UKM adalah selaras dengan arah aliran sedunia dalam menghasilkan seramik termaju yang mempamerkan sifat bahan yang unggul di samping memartabatkan keunggulan ahli akademik UKM.\u00a0<br><br>Dengan penyusunan yang teratur, syarahan perdana ini telah memberikan satu gambaran yang menyeluruh mengenai seramik termaju sebagai bahan mutakhir kejuruteraan sejajar dengan perkembangan teknologi pemprosesan dan
