class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>On Wednesday, 3 September 2025, the <strong>Department of Biochemistry<\/strong> successfully organized the <strong>Biochemistry Research Laboratory Expedition Workshop<\/strong> in collaboration with <strong>30 students and 3 teachers from Sekolah Menengah Integrasi Sains Tahfiz (SMISTA), Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP)<\/strong>.<\/p><p>The program aimed to provide students with early exposure to the field of biomedical science while introducing them to the learning and research environment within the faculty. One of the main highlights was the <strong>\u201cScientist Talk Show\u201d<\/strong> delivered by <strong>Dr. Muhammad Luqman Nasaruddin<\/strong>, Lecturer at the Department of Biochemistry.<\/p><p>In addition to the talk, participants engaged in five hands-on and interactive laboratory activities, as outlined below:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Snap Freeze \u2013 Liquid Nitrogen Application<\/strong><br \/>Students were introduced to the concept of rapid freezing using liquid nitrogen, commonly applied in research and sample preservation.<\/li><li><strong>Acidic or Alkaline? \u2013 Purple Cabbage pH Indicator<\/strong><br \/>A simple yet fun experiment where participants learned about pH levels using a natural indicator extracted from purple cabbage to identify acidic and alkaline solutions.<\/li><li><strong>You\u2019re So Tiny (Microscopic Observation) \u2013 Yeast (Unicellular)<\/strong><br \/>This session allowed students to observe yeast under a microscope, introducing them to the structure and characteristics of unicellular organisms and their importance in biotechnology.<\/li><li><strong>How Does Animal in Laboratory Looks Like? \u2013 Rats (Petting) &amp; Display Organ (Respiratory)<\/strong><br \/>Participants were exposed to basic animal anatomy through hands-on observation of laboratory rats and a demonstration of respiratory organs to understand mammalian anatomy.<\/li><li><strong>DNA Extraction from Blood<\/strong><br \/>This engaging activity introduced students to the basic concept of genetics by performing DNA extraction from blood samples.<\/li><\/ul><p>Participants also had the opportunity to visit the <strong>Anatomy Museum<\/strong> and <strong>Dissection Hall<\/strong>, which further enriched their understanding of human anatomy and biological systems.<\/p><p>The success of this program was made possible through the strong collaboration with the <strong>Multifunction Laboratory Unit, Department of Anatomy, and Department of Pathology<\/strong>, whose contributions ensured smooth implementation throughout the day.<\/p><p>Heartfelt appreciation is extended to all staff members involved for their commitment and dedication in making this event a success.
