data-path-to-node=\"3,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">6 August 2026<\/b> \u2013 The Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) organized the <b data-path-to-node=\"3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"128\">Biochemistry Research Laboratory Expedition Program 2026<\/b> at the Preclinical Block, UKM Faculty of Medicine, Kuala Lumpur Campus<\/span><span data-path-to-node=\"3,2\">. This community service initiative welcomed 45 young children aged 4 to 6, accompanied by 7 teachers from <b data-path-to-node=\"3,2\" data-index-in-node=\"107\">Tadika APC Pintar<\/b>, Mahkota Hills, Mantin, Negeri Sembilan<\/span><span data-path-to-node=\"3,4\">.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"p-rc_9d464b9eee4df644-60\" data-path-to-node=\"4\"><span data-path-to-node=\"4,0\">The initiative aimed to provide early exposure to medical science and research for young children through a &#8220;learning through play&#8221; approach<\/span><span data-path-to-node=\"4,2\">.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"p-rc_9d464b9eee4df644-61\" data-path-to-node=\"7\"><span data-path-to-node=\"7,0\">The event commenced at Lecture Hall 2 with welcome remarks from the Head of the Department of Biochemistry, <b data-path-to-node=\"7,0\" data-index-in-node=\"108\">Prof. Dr. Suzana Makpol<\/b>, followed by an appreciation speech from the Operator of Tadika APC Pintar, <b data-path-to-node=\"7,0\" data-index-in-node=\"208\">Mrs. Noramezah Amran<\/b><\/span><span data-path-to-node=\"7,2\">.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"p-rc_9d464b9eee4df644-62\" data-path-to-node=\"8\"><span data-path-to-node=\"8,0\">The program was officially launched by the Assistant Dean (Entrepreneurship) of the UKM Faculty of Medicine, <b data-path-to-node=\"8,0\" data-index-in-node=\"109\">Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azlan Helmy Abd Samat<\/b><\/span><span data-path-to-node=\"8,2\">. During the ceremony, the <b data-path-to-node=\"8,2\" data-index-in-node=\"27\">Appointment Certificate for Tadika APC Pintar STEM Resource Expert<\/b> was officially presented to the kindergarten, symbolizing a strengthened partnership in early-childhood STEM education<\/span><span data-path-to-node=\"8,4\">.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"p-rc_9d464b9eee4df644-63\" data-path-to-node=\"11\"><span data-path-to-node=\"11,0\">Before entering the research laboratories, participants enjoyed an engaging <i data-path-to-node=\"11,0\" data-index-in-node=\"76\">Scientist Talk Show<\/i> presented by <b data-path-to-node=\"11,0\" data-index-in-node=\"109\">Dr. Norwahidah Abdul Karim<\/b> (Program Chair), which introduced the role and career of a scientist<\/span><span data-path-to-node=\"11,2\">.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"p-rc_9d464b9eee4df644-64\" data-path-to-node=\"12\"><span data-path-to-node=\"12,0\">Participants were then divided into four groups to rotate through four interactive activity stations located at the Multipurpose Laboratory (MPG), Level 8<\/span><span data-path-to-node=\"12,2\">:<\/span><\/p><ul data-path-to-node=\"13\"><li><p data-path-to-node=\"13,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Station 1: Color Wheel<\/b> \u2013 Visual color experiments and basic chemical reactions.<\/p><\/li><li><p data-path-to-node=\"13,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Station 2: Blowing Up Balloons<\/b> \u2013 An engaging lesson on gases and acid-base reactions.<\/p><\/li><li><p data-path-to-node=\"13,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Station 3: Aseptic Technique<\/b> \u2013 An introduction to laboratory hygiene and micro-organism control.<\/p><\/li><li><p data-path-to-node=\"13,3,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Station 4: Balance Master<\/b> \u2013 Activities focusing on motor skills, balance control, and basic physics concepts.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p id=\"p-rc_9d464b9eee4df644-65\" data-path-to-node=\"14\"><span data-path-to-node=\"14,0\">In addition to hands-on lab experiments, the students visited the <b data-path-to-node=\"14,0\" data-index-in-node=\"66\">Department of Medical Parasitology &amp; Entomology Gallery<\/b> on Level 6 to view specimens and microorganisms up close<\/span><span data-path-to-node=\"14,2\">.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"p-rc_9d464b9eee4df644-66\" data-path-to-node=\"17\"><span data-path-to-node=\"17,0\">This program not only gave young children the opportunity to experience a real research laboratory environment firsthand, but it also aligned with national aspirations to foster STEM literacy starting at the preschool level<\/span><span data-path-to-node=\"17,2\">.<\/span><\/p><p id=\"p-rc_9d464b9eee4df644-67\" data-path-to-node=\"18\"><span data-path-to-node=\"18,0\">The program concluded with the presentation of certificates of participation, souvenirs, and a photo session. The Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, UKM hopes to continue such community outreach initiatives in the future to spark curiosity and a love for science among young minds<\/span><span
