KURSUS BAHASA INGGERIS
Minit Mesyuarat Senat ke-457 telah meluluskan Semakan Semula Struktur Penawaran Kursus Bahasa Inggeris mulai Sesi 2019/2020.
Semakan semula struktur penawaran ini melibatkan 11 kursus baharu untuk Sesi 2019/2020. Struktur baharu ini juga melibatkan pelajar-pelajar ambilan 2017/2018 dan 2018/2019 yang mana kursus-kursus lama disetarakan dengan kursus-kursus baharu.
Semakan struktur penawaran ini juga melibatkan pertambahan bilangan unit/kredit Bahasa Inggeris untuk pelajar yang mendapat MUET Band 1 dan 2. Pelajar-pelajar ini perlu menyelesaikan 7 kredit unit Bahasa Inggeris.

Peraturan Umum Pengambilan Kursus Bahasa Inggeris
1. Pelajar pengambilan Sesi 2019-2020 WAJIB melengkapkan jumlah kredit kursus Bahasa Inggeris untuk memenuhi syarat bergraduat seperti berikut:
i) 7 kredit (MUET tahap I dan 2)
ii) 5 kredit (MUET tahap 3, 4, 5 dan 6)
(Rujuk Struktur Penawaran Kursus Bahasa Inggeris Sesi 2019-2020).
2. Pelajar yang belum mengambil MUET tidak dibenarkan mendaftar kursus Bahasa Inggeris. Walau bagaimanapun, pelajar yang mempunyai kelulusan IELTS, TOEFL atau sijil kelulusan yang lain boleh mendaftar kursus Bahasa Inggeris dengan mengemukakan bukti kelulusan kepada Penyelaras Kursus Bahasa Inggeris Pusat Citra Universiti (PCU).
3. Pelajar-pelajar lulusan berikut layak memohon pemindahan kredit secara menegak:
i) Asasi Pintar UKM; atau
ii) Diploma (Politeknik dan Kolej IPTA/IPTS/Institusi Luar Negara); atau
iii) Diploma IB (International Baccalaureate).
Bagi permohonan pemindahan kredit secara menegak, pelajar perlu mengisi Borang Pemindahan Kredit Secara Menegak. Permohonan perlu dibuat melalui Pusat Pengurusan Akademik (Akademik-UKM).
4. Pelajar-pelajar juga layak memohon pemindahan kredit secara mendatar sekiranya:
i) pelajar telah mengikuti program Ijazah Sarjanamuda di institusi lain;
ii) pelajar bertukar program pengajian di UKM; dan
iii) pelajar mengikuti program pertukaran pelajar (mobiliti) di luar negara.
Bagi permohonan pemindahan kredit kursus, pelajar perlu mengisi Borang Pemindahan Kredit Secara Mendatar. Permohonan boleh dibuat terus di Pusat Citra Universiti.
5. Kursus yang boleh dipohon untuk pemindahan kredit adalah LMCE1042/1062/1072/1082 bergantung kepada tahap pencapaian MUET (Rujuk Struktur Penawaran Kursus Bahasa Inggeris Sesi 2019-2020).
6. Pelajar yang membuat permohonan pemindahan kredit PERLU mendapat pengesahan dari Akademik-UKM terlebih dahulu dan HANYA boleh mendaftar kursus Bahasa Inggeris pada Semester II. Walau bagaimanapun, pelajar tersebut wajib mengambil dan lulus kursus yang ditawarkan pada Tahun 2 dan Tahun 3/Tahun 4.
7. Pelajar wajib mengambil dan lulus kursus Bahasa Inggeris yang ditetapkan sebelum mendaftar kursus Bahasa Inggeris yang seterusnya. Mereka yang mendapat gred E perlu mengulang kursus tersebut.

Sinopsis Kursus
LMCE1042 Breakthrough English
Kursus ini ditawarkan kepada pelajar yang memperolehi MUET Band 1 dan 2 untuk memupuk keyakinan mereka untuk berkomunikasi dalam Bahasa Inggeris. Pelajar membina kosakata dan nahu melalui pembacaan secara meluas, jurnal, refleksi, and role-play. Kursus ini dilaksanakan secara bengkel di mana pengajar beroperasi sebagai fasilitator untuk menggalakkan pelajar mengambil bahagian secara aktif.

Kursus ini ditawarkan kepada pelajar dengan Band MUET 1 dan 2. Kursus ini dibangunkan untuk membantu pelajar membina dan menggunakan kemahiran belajar untuk mereka menjadi pelajar yang berjaya. Kursus ini ditawarkan kepada pelajar yang memperolehi MUET Band 4. Kursus ini memupuk dan memperkasa kemahiran oratori dan retorik pelajar dalam membuat pengucapan awam dengan berkesan. Pelajar juga dibantu dalam menyediakan rangka ucapan dan alat bantuan visual serta diberi latihan dalam teknik-teknik memberi ucapan berdasarkan tajuk yang dipilih. Kursus ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk kuliah, perbincangan berkumpulan, sesi bimbingan, menonton video dan latihan.

LMCE2103 Advanced Communication Project
Kursus ini membina kemahiran pelajar dalam melaksanakan aktiviti komunikatif dalam Bahasa Inggeris. Pelajar perlu memainkan peranan yang penting dalam aktiviti tersebut dengan bantuan yang minima. Contoh aktiviti yang disarankan termasuk memberi pengucapan awam; mengadakan kelas untuk pelajar sekolah; mengacara; mempromosi produk, khidmat atau idea di ruang pameran dan sebagainya. Pelajar perlu memuat naik video aktiviti mereka. Fokus kursus ini adalah untuk membina kemahiran komunikasi dan mengaplikasikannya dalam pelbagai situasi. Kursus ini menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran melalui pengalaman.

Kursus ini ditawarkan untuk pelajar MUET Band 1, 2 dan 3. Kursus ini mengamalkan pendekatan komunikatif di mana pelajar diberi peluang untuk mempelajari bahasa sasaran melalui komunikasi sebenar. Di samping itu, pelajar terlibat dalam pembelajaran secara langsung melalui pengalaman pembelajaran. Mereka secara aktif digalakkan untuk 'belajar dengan melakukan'. Ia bertujuan untuk membantu pelajar meningkatkan kemahiran berkomunikasi dalam pelbagai situasi.

Kursus ini menggunakan kemahiran bercerita sebagai wadah pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kebolehan pelajar dalam menyampaikan pendapat dan berkomunikasi secara baik dan yakin. Kemahiran bercerita secara korporat merupakan satu teknik untuk memperkenalkan jenama dan nilai kepada khalayak secara naratif. Ia adalah strategi komunikasi yang bertujuan untuk mendapat perhatian khalayak melalui perkongsian ilmu, pengalaman pembelajaran, nilai dan budaya. Semua aktiviti yang dilakukan dan kemahiran yang dipertingkatkan akan memberi keyakinan kepada pelajar untuk menghadapi alam pekerjaan dan kehidupan mereka.
