Advancing Sustainability in Structural Engineering and Construction
Three papers will be selected by the organising committee for the Best Young Researcher’s Paper Award. If you wish to be considered, you must: be below 35 years old as of the first date of the conference (i.e. July 13, 2026); be the first author and presenter of the full paper. Self-nomination is allowed. The completed nomination form must be submitted via email to Assoc Prof Dr. Azrul A. Mutalib, (easec19@ukm.edu.my) by March 27th, 2026. The EASEC Young Researcher/Engineer Award is to be awarded to a young researcher/engineer (age below 35 years as of July 13, 2026) from the Asia-Pacific region who has shown potential for great future achievements in the area of structural engineering and construction through research, development and/or practice. The completed nomination form must be submitted via email to Associate Professor Vinh Dao (v.dao@uq.edu.au) – Secretary General, EASEC International Steering Committee by March 27th, 2026. The Nishino Medal: to be awarded at each future EASEC conference to a distinguished senior engineer who has been judged to have made internationally recognised contributions in the area of structural engineering and construction through research, development and/or professional practice in the Asia-Pacific region. Past recipients of the Nishino Medal include Professor Guowei Ma (2024), Professor Hong Hao (2022), Professor Chien Ming Wang (2019), Professor Sritawat Kitipornchai (2017), Professor Yeong-Bin Yang (2016), Professor Yozo Fujino (2013), Professor Sung-Pil Chang (2011), Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai (2008).
The Nishino Prize: to be awarded concurrently at each future EASEC conference to a young engineer (age below 45 years as of July 13, 2026) from the Asia-Pacific region who has made significant contributions and shown potential for great future achievements in the area of structural engineering and construction through research, development and/or practice. Past recipients of the Nishino Prize include Professor Wensu Chen – Professor Judy P. Yang – Professor Mianheng Lai (2024), Professor Tomonori Nagayama – A.Professor Tak-Ming Chan (2022), Dr Xudong Qian – Dr Jun Li (2019), Dr Songye Zhu – Dr Huang Hongwei (2017), Dr Ching Tai NG (2016), Mr Kenichi Kata – Professor Yong Xia (2013), Professor Siu-Kui Au – Dr Kohei Nagai (2011), Mr Chi-Heng Chiang – Professor Xuehui An (2008).
Nominations are welcome for suitable candidates with the appropriate qualifications for consideration for the above-described Medal and Prize. Each submission should be made using the nomination form and shall be accompanied by the Curriculum vitae and related details of the candidate as well as the nominator. This award will be considered by the EASEC International Steering Committee. The EASEC-19 Best Presenter Award is established to recognize exceptional presentation skills and the effective communication of research at the 19th East Asia-Pacific Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction (EASEC-19). This award highlights presenters who demonstrate excellence in delivering their research findings with clarity, engagement, and professionalism. The recipient will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by the EASEC-19 Organizing Committee and will be honored during the award ceremony at the conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The EASEC-19 Best Paper Award is established to honor outstanding scholarly contributions presented at the 19th East Asia-Pacific Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction (EASEC-19). This award recognizes the author(s) of a paper that demonstrates exceptional originality, technical quality, and relevance to the fields of structural engineering and construction.
Eligible papers must be accepted through the peer-review process and presented during the conference. Selection will be based on the paper’s scientific merit, innovation, clarity of writing, and potential impact on research and/or practice in the Asia-Pacific region. The recipient(s) will be selected by the EASEC-19 Scientific Committee and announced during the conference award ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
