The annual Pharmaline Webinar continues to empower participants with valuable skills to excel academically. This year’s event, themed “Crafting Words, Citing Right,” was held online on 4th January 2025, from 8:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
After an opening prayer, the webinar began with Prof. Dr. Gan Siew Hua’s session on academic writing. Prof. Gan shared practical strategies for structuring scientific papers, adhering to formatting standards, and outlining the sequence of writing a report. Her session was highly interactive, featuring discussions and analysis of incorrect examples to enhance understanding. Participants appreciated her practical tips, which made the session both engaging and insightful.
The second session, “Citation Webinar,” was conducted by Ms. Dayang Norsheila Binti Abang Mohtar, who provided a detailed overview of citation techniques to enhance the credibility of academic work. She explained the different citation styles and encouraged participants to apply their learning in real time. During the live Q&A session, Ms. Dayang even shared her own past challenges with citations, how she overcame them, and tips for ensuring citations are relevant to the report or final year project.
The editor of Pharmaline 2024/2025, Christal Chieng Siew Eng, gave a moving concluding statement to wrap up the webinar. She thanked the speakers and attendees and emphasized the value of lifelong learning for both academic and professional development. The Pharmaline Webinar: Academic Writing & Citation was an overwhelming success and attendees left feeling more motivated and equipped to write excellent scientific articles.
