Vacancy for PhD\u2013 in Natural Products Research<\/p>\n

Candidates who possess the following criteria are invited to apply as a full-time PhD (research mode) student in Faculty of Pharmacy, UKM:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Bachelor Degree with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) \u2265 3.30\/ 4.0 or equivalent in Science or health-related field (e.g. chemistry\/pharmacy\/ biomedicine) OR Master\u2019s degree in similar field.<\/li>\n
  2. Able to conduct a research project involving cell culture techniques (anti allergic assay using RBL-2H3 \/anti-inflammatory assay using U937), isolation (using column chromatography, hplc etc) and identification of bioactive compounds (nmr, ms, uv and ir).<\/li>\n
  3. Excellent proficiency in English language (written and spoken).<\/li>\n
  4. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.<\/li>\n
  5. Right sense of urgency, hardworking, pro-active, and willing to learn new skills\/things.<\/li>\n
  6. Open for Malaysian and\/or international applications (those with scholarships only).<\/li>\n
  7. Duration of project-2-3 year.<\/li>\n
  8. Project entitled :<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    \n

    (a) \u201cMechanistic studies on anti-allergic activity of selected species of Anaxagorea extracts and their isolated compounds\u201d.<\/p>\n

    (b) \u201cInhibitory effects of a novel \u03b1,\u03b2-unsaturated carbonyl-based compound on NF-kB, MAPK and PI3K-Akt signaling pathways in U937 macrophages, histamine and \u03b2-hexosaminidase release in RBL-2H3 cells\u201d.<\/p>\n
