Nutrition Science covers a variety of disciplines that provides an understanding of how dietary intake can influence human health. Students will need a strong base in nutritional sciences as well as an understanding of how food is produced and processed, how nutrients can be obtained from food, and the metabolic consequences of taking a variety of foods on health. This is based on sound understanding of biological sciences, including biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology of the human body. Social and psychological factors that influence food choices are also included.

The UKM Nutrition Science undergraduate programme is conducted over a period of four years. It is an integration of the physical, biological, and social sciences disciplines, with the final goal being good nutrition and optimal health for the population. The programme also incorporates an honors level research and hands-on experience during industrial training.

Graduates can look forward to careers as nutritionists in the public health sector, food and health industry, and as researchers in various areas of nutritional sciences.
