Introduction

Researchers and participants from higher education institutions, colleges, schools, research institutions, and relevant stakeholders are invited to participate in the research and innovation competition in conjunction with the 25th Silver Jubilee celebration of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST). This event serves as a platform for lecturers, researchers, university students, college students, and school students to showcase their research and innovations. The presence of industry representatives provides an opportunity for promising research and innovations to be elevated to the commercialization stage.

Exhibitions from the departments of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Taman Botani Bangi, FST start-up companies, and industries will also be open to the public, offering insights into research activities, expertise, and services provided.

Program Objectives

To serve as a platform for sharing research and innovations by FST researchers and all researchers from universities or research institutions in Malaysia.

To encourage researchers and creators at the secondary school, matriculation, foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels to showcase their innovations.

To bring together researchers and creators with the potential for collaboration or engagement with stakeholders.

Terms and Conditions of the Research and Innovation Competition

  1. Eligibility:

    • This competition is open to everyone.
    • Participation is divided into three target groups:
      i. Lecturers & Researchers
      ii. Students from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Polytechnics, and Colleges
      iii. School Students
  2. Participation Method:

    • Participants may join individually or in groups. Only the group leader is required to register online to participate in the competition.
    • The registration fee covers the following:
      • Registration, poster and exhibition space
      • Meals for registered participants (morning refreshments, lunch, and afternoon tea)
      • Medals and certificates
    • Payment can be made via: Payment URL.
    • Participants must complete all required information in the provided Registration Form.
  3. Registration Fee:

    • Fees are charged as specified under the Registration Fee section.
    • Additional entries from the same group will incur extra charges.
    • Extra participants attending HAPI2025 will be charged RM40 per person, which includes a meal coupon.
  4. Research and Exhibition Materials:

    • All submitted research and exhibition materials must be original and not plagiarized from any source.
    • Entries must not be derived from existing ideas already protected by intellectual property rights (e.g., patents, copyrights), commercialized, or previously published.
    • Poster size must be A1 (594mm x 841mm, portrait orientation).
    • An exhibition table measuring 2 feet x 3 feet will also be provided.
  5. Language:

    • Only entries in Malay (Bahasa Malaysia) and English are accepted and will be evaluated.
  6. Content Guidelines:

    • Participants must avoid sensitive issues related to culture, religion, individuals, or organizations.
  7. Registration Deadline:

    • The registration deadline is 20th April 2025.
    • The organizing committee reserves the right to reject any entries submitted after this date.
  8. Judging and Decision:

    • Entries will be evaluated by appointed judges, and their decisions are final.
    • No appeals will be entertained.
    • Winners will be announced in the afternoon of 21st May 2025.
  9. Evaluation Criteria:
    Entries will be assessed based on the following criteria:

    i. Originality and Creativity (25%)
    ii. Technical Feasibility (20%)
    iii. Impact and Application (20%)
    iv. Presentation and Communication (15%)
    v. Sustainability and Ethical Considerations (10%)
    vi. Collaboration and Teamwork (10%)

  1. The participation fee for each entry is as stated in the table below. Payment can be made via Payment URL, and participants must provide payment details in the Registration Form.

  2. Individuals or groups may register more than one entry, with the fee charged for each submission as specified below:
