The protein structure and function study group in the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS), UKM, is seeking a talented candidate passionate about doing life sciences research 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵/𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯.

𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲: 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻-𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗰𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘂𝘀 (𝗠𝗥𝗦𝗔) 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹-𝗺𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗴𝘀

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:

Computational predictions of potential drug-binding sites need to be experimentally verified to identify a potential drug target of a protein. Hence, it is necessary to understand the atomic level interactions that allow the protein-ligand binding to take place to assess the fitness of a particular approved drug compound to be repositioned to a new target protein site.

This project aims to study the molecular interactions of repositioned drugs targeting MRSA and human proteins using X-ray crystallography and biophysical methods to examine and validate the computationally predicted molecular interactions.

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:

• Master’s degree/ First Class in Bachelor Degree (Structure biology / Molecular biology / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biomedical sciences or any related field)

• Experience in scientific writing will be an added advantage
