Pembekal kuasa membekalkan voltan tinggi (0-6kV) kepada senapang elektron untuk memecutkan elektron dari katod K ke anod A. Senapang elektron merupakan komponen penting yang terdiri dari katod (K), anod (A), pelindung Wehnelt (W) dan mangkuk pijar. Elektron yang dihasilkan daripada katod K dipecut ke anod A dan dipesong ~270\u00baC oleh medan magnet yang dihasilkan oleh gegelung (S) seterusnya memasuki mangkuk pijar.
