Biografi:
We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations and thank you to Professor Biswajeet Pradhan for being appointed as a Distinguished Professor at the Institute of Climate Change (IPI), UKM. Professor Biswajeet Pradhan is a Distinguished Professor and Director of the Centre for Advance Modelling and Geospatial Information Systems (CAMGIS), at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. Before joining the school, he was a full professor of Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Putra, Malaysia. Professor Biswajeet Pradhan has more than 18 years of teaching, research, and industrial experience in the field of Geospatial Information Systems. He has also published over 300 research articles in refereed international ISI journals, 11 book chapters, 3 books, and more than 150 conference proceedings. Since February 2015, he is serving as an “Ambassador Scientist” for Alexander Humboldt Foundation, Germany. He has widely traveled abroad visiting more than 55 countries to present his research findings. The appointment as a Distinguished Professor at IPI begins from 18 August 2020 to 17 August 2021, for one year. We hope his expertise will further enhance the international research collaboration and publication between UKM and the University of Technology Sydney, Australia.

Kelayakan
He received his B.Sc. degree (with honours) from Berhampur University, India, the M.Sc. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, India, the M.Tech. degree in civil engineering from IIT, Kanpur, India, and the Dresden University of Technology, Dresden, Germany, and the Ph.D. degree in GIS and Geomatics engineering from the University Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Malaysia.

He specializes in remote sensing, GIS application and soft computing techniques in natural hazard and environmental problems

He is listed as the World’s Most Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytic's Report in 2017 and 2016 as one of the world’s most influential minds. He is a recipient of the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship from Germany. In 2011, he received his habilitation in “Remote Sensing” from Dresden University of Technology, Germany. He is also the recipient of the German Academic Exchange Research (DAAD) Fellowship Award, the Saxony State Fellowship from 1999 to 2002, the Keith Aurtherton Research Award, and the Georg Forster Research Award from the German Government.
