The ‘Heritage Reimagined’ project, funded by the British Council Connections Through Culture grant brings together royalty, textiles and nature, this project explored the threads and motifs which adored royal life. In Scotland tapestries hung from the walls of castle banquet halls, telling stories and portraying epic scenes and in Malaysian Kelingkans embellished outfits displayed inspiration from the surrounding nature.

This project expands on our earlier research into how the landscapes of the Malay world and Scotland shape their respective architectural approach [From Hut to Palace: AR Explanation | British Council and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxdLyGjOtBM&feature=youtu.be]. By bringing two cultural countries and environments together, we are able to explore how our environment is part of the way we build, decorate and celebrate. Over the past year the team have undertaken research into what inspired these textures and how nature is weaved into the daily life of the powerful and wealthy parts of society. Find out more about the research below.
