Vital components in the acquisition of competitiveness lies in human capital formation and skills development. Malaysia&#8217;s current net manpower requirements demonstrate an acute shortage in skilled labor which can impede her competitiveness in the international arena. Although current policies have recoguised this, nonetheless there is still a need to consider supplementary measures such as tracking technology trends in order to ascertain new skills required. Furthermore, inculcating a training culture as well as enhancing professionalism will undoubtedly help skills development.
