It is important to ensure that the programme outcomes are not simply a compilation of course outcomes, but are instead more general statements focussing on generic skills that are transferrable, and that groom students to be adequately prepared for further study, employment, and social responsibility, while still capturing the discipline specific skills a programme cultivates.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<table id=\"tablepress-2\" class=\"tablepress tablepress-id-2\">\n<tbody class=\"row-striping row-hover\">\n<tr class=\"row-1\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO1<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialisation to the solution of complex mechanical engineering problems.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-2\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO2<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to identify, formulate, research literature and analyse complex mechanical engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-3\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO3<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to design solutions for complex mechanical engineering problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and  safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-4\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO4<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to conduct investigation into complex problems using research based knowledge including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-5\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO5<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling, to complex engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-6\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO6<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice and solutions to complex engineering problems.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-7\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO7<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to understand and evaluate the sustainability and the impact of professional engineering work in the solution of complex engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-8\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO8<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-9\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO9<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams and in multi-disciplinary settings <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-10\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO10<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-11\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO11<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering and management principles and economic decision-making apply these to one\u2019s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr class=\"row-12\">\n\t<td class=\"column-1\">PO12<\/td><td class=\"column-2\">Ability to recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in
