DEPARTMENT OF FOOD SCIENCES

Background

The International Symposium on Science and Technology Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Prince of Songkla University (PSU), known as ISSTUP, serves as a collaborative platform to strengthen academic and research partnerships between Malaysia and Thailand. The symposium was first held in 2022 under the theme of fostering regional collaboration in science and technology, encompassing diverse fields such as food science, nutrition, life sciences, chemistry, and physics. The hybrid event successfully brought together researchers, academicians, and students from both institutions to exchange knowledge, present their findings, and establish new research linkages. Building upon the success of the inaugural symposium, ISSTUP 2024 was held on May 3rd, 2024, at the Crystal Hotel, Hat Yai, Thailand, with the theme “Food and Science for a Sustainable Future.” This edition emphasised the role of scientific innovation in achieving sustainability goals, particularly in food and life sciences. Featuring keynote lectures, oral and poster presentations, and student engagement sessions, ISSTUP-ASIA 2026 further reinforced cross-border academic collaboration, promoting the exchange of expertise and ideas towards advancing regional scientific development.
